Ananda Mirilli for Madison School Board (Seat 5*)
Our schools have been underfunded for years, and our students and teachers have been greatly impacted. On the state level, our new governor is committed to start repairing the damage that has been done by restoring funding. But on the local level, blaming children, their parents, or the superintendent will not solve our problems. We have to address them with innovation and collaboration before it gets worse.
My name is Ananda Mirilli. I am a brown, single mom of a LaFollette HS student, first-generation immigrant, and member of the LGBTQ community. I am an educator and a south side resident. I'm a candidate because I am ready to bring new perspectives and energy to the School Board. I have over 10 years of experience in the Madison schools. I have worked as a Madison College Pre-college Coordinator at Wright Middle School; as a Tutor Coordinator for Centro Hispano at Memorial High School; YWCA Restorative Justice Director working with multiple high, middle and elementary schools; and as a Family and Community Engagement Coordinator for MMSD.
It’s time to take responsibility! -- I am looking forward to work collaboratively with our Madison teachers and community partners to serve our students, while holding MMSD leadership accountable.
